2-night car camping service trip Kipahulu area of Haleakala National Park
No Backpacking Required!
The Friends of Haleakala and Haleakala National Park will host a service trip in the Kipahulu District of the Park on Oct. 12-14. Participants can stay in the bunkhouse, which is equipped with a kitchen, shower and outhouse, or may set up tents in the adjacent lawn. You can drive right up to the bunkhouse, so no backpacking is required for this trip! The group of up to 12 will do a variety of tasks, directed by the Park's volunteer coordinator, Amandine Maury. Anticipated tasks include; greenhouse cleanup and maintenance, weeding, native plant habitat restoration, lo`i restoration on the Pipiwi trail ... and more!
The group will carpool to Kipahulu early on Saturday morning. Preference will be given to those who can attend all three days, but if you need to return to town late Sunday, so that you can work on Monday, we can still use your help.
